Łódź Voivodship

Łódź Voivodship (1) (Polish: województwo łódzkie) is an administrative region of central Poland created January 1, 1999, out of the former Łódź (2), Sieradz, Piotrków Trybunalski, Skierniewice and part of Płock voivodships, pursuant to the Local Government Reorganization Act of 1998. The voivodship's name recalls that of the region's largest city, Łódź. The population of the voivodship is 2,597,000, with a density of 145.5 person/km².
