- The Philadelphia Phillies field one of the more amazing teams in baseball history. The team bats .349 for the season with all four of their outfielders averaging better than .400. Despite this feat, the Phillies still finish in fourth place.
- The Boston Beaneaters set a still standing Major League Baseball record for the most runs scored in a season (1220). Boston also set another standing record by having seven players in a single season hit 100 or more runs.
