- January 1 - The first Rose Bowl game is played in Pasadena, California
- December 28 - The first indoor professional American football game is played in New York City at Madison Square Garden.

Major League Baseball
- April 23 - Luis Castro made his major league debut with the Philadelphia Athletics in the American League. He is the first baseball player from Colombia to play professional baseball in the United States. Castro was the first Latin American ballplayer to play in Major League Baseball since Estaban Bellan in 1873.
