- In the Third Battle of Nola, Marcus Claudius Marcellus fights an inconclusive battle with Hannibal.
- Tiberius Gracchus defeated Hanno Barca in the Battle of Beneventum
- Publius Cornelius Scipio is elected aedile at age 22, together with his elder brother. He was opposed by the tribunes on account of his youth but supported by the people. But Scipio's style in politic would ultimately lead to his political downfall in the future.
- The censors Marcus Atilius Regulus and Publius Furius Philus prosecute and punish a number of citizens who had planned to abandon Rome after the Battle of Cannae.
- Panyu (present-day Guangzhou, or Canton) was established as a city.
