Aira (姶良郡; -gun) is a district located in Kagoshima, Japan.

As of the Kirishima merger but with 2003 population data, the district has an estimated population of 86,924 and a density of 231 persons per km². The total area is 375.64 km².

Towns and villages

Mergers

On November 7, 2005, the city of Kirishima was formed from the merger of the city of Kokubu with the towns of Fukuyama, Hayato, Kirishima, Makizono, Mizobe, and Yokogawa.

On March 22, 2005 the towns of Kurino and Yoshimatsu merged forming the town of Yusui.
