Akademio de Esperanto

Template:Esperanto The Akademio de Esperanto is, according to its website, "an independent language institute whose task is to conserve and protect the fundamental principles of the language Esperanto and control its evolution." It was proposed by L. L. Zamenhof at the First Universal Congress of Esperanto, and founded soon after with the name Lingva Komitato (Language Committee). This Committee had a "superior commission" called "Akademio" ("Academy"). In 1948, within the framework of a general reorganization, the Language Committee and the Academy combined to form the Akademio de Esperanto (Academy of Esperanto).

In September 2004, the Akademio de Esperanto consisted of the following 45 members:
