Amyl nitrate

Amyl nitrate is used medically to treat angina, and is sometimes used postoperatively in urologic procedures to rapidly abort unwanted erections (especially in the cases of Nesbitt procedures and complex urethroplasty). It is also useful as an antidote to cyanide poisoning.
Amyl nitrate is often confused with the inhalant drug amyl nitrite.
