Arecales
From Free net encyclopedia
Arecales is a botanical name for an order of flowering plants. Systems such as the Cronquist system (1981), the APG system (1998) and the APG II system (2003) use it for an order of one family only :
The difference is in the higher placement. Cronquist assigns this order to the subclass Arecidae in the class Liliopsida. By contrast APG and APG II place it in the clade commelinoids, respectively commelinids, in the clade monocots.
Note that, until not that long ago, this order was named Principes.da:Palme-ordenen fr:Arecales it:Arecales nl:Arecales no:Arecales pl:Arekowce pt:Arecales
