Baron Ravensdale

Baron Ravensdale, of Ravensdale in the County of Derbyshire, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 2 November, 1911 for the Conservative politician George Nathaniel Curzon, with remainder, in default of issue male, to his eldest daughter and the heirs male of her body, failing whom to his other daughters in like manner in order of primogeniture.
Curzon was created Viscount Scarsdale and Earl Curzon of Kedleston at the same time. Since he had no sons, and was then unmarried, the Viscounty bore a special remainder, to the heirs male of his father.
Curzon was already 4th Baron Scarsdale, but as a barony by patent, it has since passed to his nephew, who is heir male of the 1st Baron; he had also been created, in 1898, Baron Curzon of Kedleston in the peerage of Ireland, the last Irish peerage to be created (extinct at his death). In 1921 he was promoted to Marquess Curzon of Kedleston .
On Lord Curzon's death in 1925 he was succeeded in the Barony of Ravensdale, according to the special remainder, by his eldest daughter Mary Irene Curzon. In 1958 she was given a life peerage as "Baroness Ravensdale, of Kedleston in the County of Derbyshire". Lady Ravensdale was succeeded by her nephew, Nicholas Mosley, who became the third Baron. He was the son of Lady Cynthia Curzon (1898-1933) (younger daughter of Lord Curzon of Kedleston), by her husband Sir Oswald Mosley, 6th Baronet, of Ancoats. In 1980 he also succeeded his father as 7th Baronet, of Ancoats.
