Billboard Music Award

The Billboard Music Awards, held annually in December, is one of four major US music awards shows presented each year (the others being the American Music Awards, the Grammys, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony).
The BMAs have been held annually since 1990, and like the AMAs, this awards show honors winners based on popularity—in this case, based on Billboard's year-end music charts, with awards for top selling album/artist/single in a particular genre.
Since its inception, the BMAs have been telecast live on the Fox network.
Since 1992, the awards also held out a Billboard Century Award which pays tribute to some of the classic artists in each decade.
The 2005 Billboard Music Awards were held at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday, December 6.
As expected, 50 Cent lead all other artists with 8 unique category award nominations (including Artist of the Year and top album), followed by Mariah Carey with seven, Green Day with six, and Fantasia with four. At the ceremony, Green Day won all six of its nominations, 50 Cent also won six out of eight nominations, and Mariah Carey won five awards.
