Demographics

The indigenious Zomi, better known as the Chin form the majority of Chin State. Owing to American Baptist missionaries' work, 93% of the population is Christian, and most practitioners are Chin. However, a sizeable minority of the Zomi adhere to their animist beliefs and Theravada Buddhism. Mostly Zomi are farmers. The Bamar and Khami populate the southern and western portions of Chin State, and most are Buddhists.
