Dom means any of the following:
- A title of respect – derived from Latin "Dominus" – for certain Benedictine monks, for example those of the English Benedictine Congregation (e.g. Dom John Chapman, late Abbot of Downside), the female equivalent being "Dame" (e.g. Dame Laurentia McLachlan, late Abbess of Stanbrook; Dame Felicitas Corrigan, author). It is also used in French, as in Dom Perignon, analogous to the Italian, Spanish and Portuguese Don or Dom.
- A German (in full Domkirche) and Dutch word for cathedral, as in Kölner Dom or Berliner Dom, from Latin domus 'house/home', and refers to a church as House of God; Italian Duomo; the closest relevant English cognate is the homonphone Dome 'cupola' in (often religious) architecture from the Greek doma 'house top'.
- In Dutch it's also the (non-cognate) word for dumb (only as 'stupid', mute is Stom)
- The Dom mountain in the Swiss Alps.
- The Dom ethnic group.
- The Dominant partner in a BDSM relationship.
- One of the characters in the webcomic Megatokyo.
- In the Universal Century canon of Mobile Suit Gundam, the Principality of Zeon's mass-production mobile suit MS-09 Dom and MS-09R Rick Dom.
As an abbreviation:
- a shortening of first names (male and some female or unisex) derived from Dominicus, such as Dominic, Domingo, Dominique.
