Iris Oifigiúil
From Free net encyclopedia
Iris Oifigiúil (Template:IPA2; meaning: "Official Gazette") replaced the Dublin Gazette on January 31, 1922 as the official newspaper of record of the Irish Free State, the state which has since become known as the Republic of Ireland. Iris Oifigiuil is generally referred to as the Irish State Gazette in English and continues to be issued twice weekly.
The Dublin Gazette was published since November 7, 1706 with the final edition on January 27, 1922. In 1921 the Belfast Gazette was published for the then newly created Northern Ireland to publish material relevant to it.
Prima facie evidence on notices of government business are published in the newspaper, these include orders, rules and proclamations. The paper is published on Tuesdays and Fridays and is available online as well as hardcopy by the Office of Public Works.
