Eastern Mediterranean University

Eastern Mediterranean University (Turkish: Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi) is located in the northern part of Cyprus. It has at least 18 departments offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as a research infrastrucure. Its library contains the largest collection of resources on the island.

The university has a campus near the city of Famagusta. Currently the school has over 12,000 students from at least 40 different countries and academic staff from at least 68 different countries. It was established in 1979 as an institution for the talented Turkish Cypriots to study engineering. After 1986, it was converted to a state-run university.

Some specific departments are considered of high quality, including Physics ( leading Cypriot Physicist Mustafa Halilsoy is there.), Engineering, English Literature, and Mathematics.
