Easton is a town located in Talbot County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 11,708. It is the county seat of Talbot CountyTemplate:GR. The ZIP Code is 21601. The primary phone exchange is 822 and the area code is 410.
It hosts the Talbot County Fair each summer and was home to two franchises during the existence of the Eastern Shore Baseball League -- the Farmers and Yankees.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 27.0 km² (10.4 mi²). 26.7 km² (10.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.15% water. Home to Max McAllister.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 11,708 people, 5,031 households, and 2,882 families residing in the town. The population density was 439.3/km² (1,137.6/mi²). There were 5,399 housing units at an average density of 202.6/km² (524.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 71.75% White, 23.45% African American, 0.17% Native American, 1.79% Asian, 0.36% Pacific Islander, 1.50% from other races, and 0.97% from two or more races. 3.45% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 5,031 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.9% were married couples living together, 13.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.7% were non-families. 36.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 15.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.22 and the average family size was 2.91.
In the town the population was spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 79.2 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $36,464, and the median income for a family was $48,825. Males had a median income of $31,103 versus $25,411 for females. The per capita income for the town was $21,520. 11.8% of the population and 7.0% of families were below the poverty line. 15.0% of those under the age of 18 and 12.3% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
