Eerie, Indiana
From Free net encyclopedia
Eerie, Indiana is a US television show, starting in 1991 and ending in 1992, which, despite its short runtime, nevertheless received a cult-like fan following.
The show follows a young boy, Marshall Teller, whose family moves to the town from which the show acquires its name, apt due to bizarre daily events and situations that Teller and his close friend Simon Holmes feel impelled to investigate. A marker sign Teller is seen stopping his bicycle near in the opening credits shows the town as having a population of 16,661, a number thought in some viewers' minds to somehow connect the town to its middle three digits. Plots included a mother who preserved herself and her twin sons in Tupperware-type plastic containers called 'Forever-ware', uncovering an attempt by intelligent dogs in the town to overthrow human rule, and a tornado hunter with an Ahab-like quest to overcome a twister townsfolk have come to refer to as "Bob", which sweeps through the town on an annual basis. Naturally, Elvis is around to put his two cents in from time to time, and Teller has witnessed Bigfoot eat from the trashcan in his backyard.
The characters deal with the scenarios with dead seriousness, adding to the camp flavor of the show.
The show's cult following brought about a brief spinoff Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension in 1998. Produced in Canada, it followed a different boy in a different, yet similar, reality solving mysteries in his own Eerie. In the first Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension episode there is a brief Fictional crossover to the older Eerie, Indiana show.
Quite recently, the complete series was released on dvd. However, there are no speacial features. Early in 2005, there was speculation that a movie version was in the works. This lead to people making petitions to have some new version of the universe shown now. Although nothing has happened, fans are hoping something new will happen soon.

The Characters of Eerie Indiana
Marshall Teller
Marshall Teller has a long road ahead of him in his journey to fight back against weirdness. During the course of the series, he has many 'weird' encounters with his friend Simon Wells. The two remain close friends throughout the series. Together they fight back against weirdness. They have an evidence locker that they put the evidence from theie journeys inside. Only Marshall has the key to the locker, which he wears around his neck.
- Spoiler Warning
During one of his journeys, he intentionally resets his watch ahead one hour for Daylight Savings Time, a practice which Eerie, Indiana does not recognize. It is then that he gets trapped in an alternate dimension called "The Lost Hour" where he appears to be the only person alive in the world. After wandering around aimlessly, he discovers three men in business suits by a garbage truck. The truck (it appears) is loading bodies in the truck and disposing them.
When the three suits see Marshall, they start chasing after him. After a long chase, he runs into a very old milkman. The milkman helps him escape back into the real world at the end of the episode. When the milk man is saying goodbye to Marshall, Marshall asks who he is and he responds:
"One day you're going to grow up to be a fine man, Marshall. And then you will grow old. And find your way back here."
He holds up the same key to the evidence locker. That is all we know of Marshall's future. We will probably never know what became of the time between Marshall's teenage life to old age.
Dash X
Although so many of Eerie Indiana's mysteries were left unsolved, only one is the most talked about among fans. The character named Dash X, played by Jason Marsden, started appearing in Season 2. You never knew what he would do next. His character was full of twists and turns. Fans emailed Jason Marsden for more info on his character and he revealed the following. (Spoilers)
- He was made like Frankenstein and he was not human.
- He came to Eerie because his body was attracted to its 'weirdness'
- Jason doesnt know how it would have fit into the Loyal Order of Corn.
- He was put together from spare body parts.
Only time will tell whether we will visit this character again.
