English Canada

English Canada is a term used to describe either:
- one of the nations within Canada
- the English-speaking residents of Canada or
- the Canadian provinces which are majority anglophone, i.e. the provinces and territories other than Quebec.
- English Canadian, in some historical contexts, is used to designate English-Canadians, Canadians of English origin (in contrast to Scottish-Canadians, Irish-Canadians etc.)
According to the 2001 Census of Canada, the population of English Canada is 25 246 220 using the second meaning, and 22 513 315 using the third.
English Canada in the third sense is often referred to (either dismissively or ironically, depending on the speaker's point of view) as the "ROC" (Rest of Canada).
