Template:Infobox Company Enix, or more formally Enix Co. Ltd., was a company that produced Japanese video games and manga. The company was founded in August, 1982 as a subsidiary of Eidansha Boshu Service Center. It has since merged with Square Co., Ltd. on April 1, 2003 to form the modern day company Square Enix.
Enix was most famous for the Dragon Quest series of games (known as Dragon Warrior in North America). Other popular series published by Enix were the Soul Blazer series, consisting of Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma and developed by Quintet, and the Star Ocean series developed by tri-Ace. The company also published mangas, most notably the Fullmetal Alchemist series from its Shonen Magazine Monthly Shonen Gangan.
Enix America Corporation was the corporation's American localization subsidiary. It was organized after the release of Dragon Warrior by Nintendo of America in 1989. The corporation was in existence from 1990 to 1995, and then from 1999 to 2003. The subsidiary ceased to exist after the merger with Square Co., Ltd.
