Euramerica
From Free net encyclopedia
Euramerica (also known as Laurussia) was a minor supercontinent created in the Devonian by the collision of Laurentia and Baltica (Scandian Orogeny). Euramerica became part of the major supercontinent Pangaea in the Permian. In the Jurassic, Pangaea rifted into two continents Gondwana and Laurasia. Euramerica was part of Laurasia. In the Cretaceous, Laurasia rifted into the continents of North America and Eurasia. North America kept the Laurentian craton, while Eurasia kept the Baltican craton thus ending Euramerica.
