Garyville, Louisiana

Garyville is a census-designated place located in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,775. Garyville is the hometown of Darryl J. St. Pierre who now lives in Baton Rouge, La. Darryl is the 10th cousin of singer Celine Dion. A 1974 LSU graduate, he was also a member of LSU's Tiger Band which was voted the best college TV band of 1970 by ABC. The Tiger Band surpassed the University of Tennessee, the University of Southern Cal, and the Ohio State University bands. This was the first and last college band contest ever held. Darryl wrote a history of Garyville in 1969 and also in 2003 for the Garyville Centennial.
