Attractions

The village of Gays is home of two unique tourist attractions.

Image:TwostoryouthouseSA.jpg A two story outhouse is located in the town. It was build in 1869 for apartments that were attached to a general store. The top floor was used by the apartments dwellers while the bottom floor was used by patrons of the store. Each level had two seats, so the outhouse could be used by four at a time. Waste from the top level dropped to the pit behind a false wall instead of falling on occupants below. The store and apartments have been demolished, however, the outhouses remains. It is now in a small park open to the public.

Image:ThiefSenorAnderson.jpg West of the outhouse is what was claimed to be Hitler’s bicycle. A rusty bicycle once hung on a pole with a sign that read “Hitler’s Bike (1934).” However, this bike is not authentic and was put up by a prankster. The bike was stolen and as of May 29, 2005 the bike has not been found.
