Gennep is a municipality and a city in the southeastern Netherlands.

The city of Gennep

Gennep received city rights in 1371. It lies about 18 km southeast of Nijmegen.

In 2001, Gennep had 8306 inhabitants. The built-up area of the town was 2.11 km2, and contained 3124 residences.<ref name="CBS">Statistics Netherlands (CBS), Bevolkingskernen in Nederland 2001 [1]. Statistics are for the continuous built-up area.</ref>
