George

(Redirected from Georges)
The name George has its origin in ancient Greek Geōrgios (Template:Polytonic), a derivation of the noun geōrgos (Template:Polytonic) "husbandman, farmer", a compound of gē (Template:Polytonic) "earth" and ergon (Template:Polytonic) "work".
The name was rare in Antiquity, but became extremely popular in Christianity thanks to Saint George. It remains a popular name and has many variants in the different languages. Template:Wiktionary
