Gravel pit

From Free net encyclopedia

Gravel pit is the British English term for an open cast working for extraction of gravel (river-deposited rounded stones). Gravel pits normally lie in river valleys where the water table is high, so they fill naturally with water to form ponds or lakes. Old, abandoned gravel pits are normally used either as nature reserves, or as amenity areas for water sports, camping and walking.

"Gravel Pit" is also a name of a hit song by the Wu Tang Clan, released on December 5, 2000[1]. The song peaked at 20th place on Billboard's 'Hot Rap Singles' chart[2].

In the videogame ' Super Smash Brothers Mêlée' The bottom area of Hyrule Castle is somtimes referred to as the "gravel pit" due to the difficulty of getting a kill. Players usually proceed to sing the hit song by Wu Tang Clan as they battle away in the "gravel pit."
