Grove City is a borough located in Mercer County, Pennsylvania, 70 miles (113 km) north of Pittsburgh. It is the home of Grove City College, opened in 1876. An Odd Fellows' Home existed, too. In the past there were manufactures of carriages, gas engines, foundry products, broomsm motor trucks, etc. In 1900, the population numbered 1,599; in 1910, 3,674 people lived there; and in 1940, 6,296 people lived there. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 8,024.

Geography
Grove City is located at 41°9'37" North, 80°5'13" West (41.160290, -80.086911)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 6.9 km² (2.7 mi²). 6.9 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.75% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 8,024 people, 2,575 households, and 1,560 families residing in the borough. The population density was 1,169.1/km² (3,025.7/mi²). There were 2,745 housing units at an average density of 399.9/km² (1,035.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 97.32% White, 0.64% African American, 0.06% Native American, 1.08% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 0.74% from two or more races. 0.54% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 2,575 households out of which 26.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.4% were non-families. 35.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the borough the population was spread out with 16.7% under the age of 18, 31.8% from 18 to 24, 20.2% from 25 to 44, 14.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 27 years. For every 100 females there were 90.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.8 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $34,598, and the median income for a family was $46,676. Males had a median income of $36,467 versus $21,934 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $16,365. 8.5% of the population and 4.8% of families were below the poverty line. 8.1% of those under the age of 18 and 6.4% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
