As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 114,336 and the density of 2,421.35 persons per km². The total area is 47.22 km².

Influenced by the opening of a Dow Chemical Company plant in Handa, the city has a sister city to Midland, Michigan, USA, the world headquarters of the corporation [1].

Famous people

The famous author Niimi Nankichi was born in Handa in 1913.
