Ian McFarlane is an Australian music journalist.
McFarlane is the author of the renowned Encyclopedia of Australian Rock and Pop (Allen & Unwin, 1999; hardback ISBN 1865080721, softback ISBN 1864497682). He edits the fanzine Prehistoric Sounds, about Australian music of the 1970s and 1980s.Template:Journalist-stub
