Ivan Lewis

Ivan Lewis (born 4 March 1967, Prestwich, Manchester) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He is the member of Parliament for Bury South, and is a member of the Labour Party. He was first elected in the 1997 general election.
Lewis was appointed Economic Secretary to the Treasury, a junior ministerial post in the Treasury, after the 2005 general election. Previously he was a junior minister in the Department for Education and Skills and Parliamentary Private Secretary to Stephen Byers, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
He was educated at William Hulme Grammar School in Manchester, Stand Sixth Form College and Bury College of Further Education. He is married with two children. [1]
He is Vice-Chair of Labour Friends of Israel, and a trustee of the Holocaust Educational Trust. Before his election he was the Chief Executive of Manchester Jewish Social Services.
