John Broome (politician)

John Broome (1738 - 1810) was a New York political figure. He was a delegate to the state constitutional convention, a member of the senate, and Lt. Governor (died in office). Broome County, New York and the Town of Broome are named after him, along with a street in Manhattan in New York City.

Broome was a merchant and lived most of his life in New York City, where he was deeply involved in mercantile and charitable institutions.
