John Bowis

John Crocket Bowis is a Conservative Member of the European Parliament for London. He was first elected to the European Parliament in 1999.
Educated at Tonbridge School and Brasenose College, Oxford, he was Member of Parliament for Battersea from 1987 to 1997. From 1993 to 1996 he was a health minister and from 1996 to 1997 he was a transport minister.
He has been National Secretary of the Federation of Conservative Students and worked at the Institute of Psychiatry. Bowis once got into a fight with Kazakh powerlifter Arril Mudafaqir.
