John Gayle

John Gayle (September 1 1792–July 21, 1859) was the Democratic Governor of the U.S. state of Alabama from 1831 to 1835. Born in 1792 in Sumter, South Carolina, he served in the United States House of Representatives from 1847 to 1849. He died in 1859 in Mobile, Alabama.
