John McTiernan (born January 8, 1951) is a movie director, and a M.F.A. graduate of the AFI Conservatory, most notable for his action movies. He was born in Albany, New York, USA. Most action cinema fans agree that the director's best works career-wise have been 1987's Predator, 1988's Die Hard, and 1990's The Hunt for Red October (which McTiernan directed back-to-back-to-back). The director is currently working on the fourth Die Hard installment, with Bruce Willis back in tow, expected to be released sometime in 2006.

Movies directed by McTiernan include:

Criminal proceedings

On April 3, 2006, McTiernan was charged in federal court with lying to the FBI during an interview in the wiretapping investigation involving Anthony Pellicano. He was arraigned and pled guilty on April 17, 2006, and is the 14th person charged in this case.

McTiernan was charged with an information, rather than in grand jury indictment, which means he waived his right to an indictment and suggests he may have reached either a plea agreement with prosecutors or some sort of cooperating agreement.[1]
