List of national legislatures

This is a list of national legislatures, whether parliamentary or congressional, that act as a plenary general assembly of representatives with the power to legislate.

Notes
- In addition to their unicameral national parliaments, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama and also return directly elected deputies to the supranational Central American Parliament. They have since been joined by the Dominican Republic, following its accession to the Parliament in February 2004.
- In addition to their national parliaments, the nations of the European Union also return directly elected members to the supranational European Parliament. The most recent elections were held in June 2004. See European Parliament election, 2004.
- In addition to their national parliaments, the nations of the African Union nominate certain parliament members of member nations to serve in the Pan-African Parliament.
