Template:NPOV Mark Epstein, M.D., is a graduate of Harvard College and the Harvard Medical School. As a psychotherapist with a private practice in New York City, contributing editor to Tricycle: The Buddhist Review and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology at New York University, he is the author of well-respected books including Thoughts Without a Thinker and Going to Pieces without Falling Apart (ISBN 0767902351). Both books deal with the difficult and counter-intuitive Eastern teachings of non-self, a concept which has sometimes proved so alien to the Western mind as to be out of reach for many western Buddhists, and certainly many other Westerners who might find the idea useful. The buddha's teaching has always been against the stream, the Buddha was impolered 3 times to teach by the great god Brahma, Mark Epstein clears up the confusion about emptiness by teaching wrong views and illustrating anatta or selflessness of persons or the view of the transitory collection.
- "Going to Pieces Without Falling Apart is a daring and profound synthesis of intelligence about emotions East and West. The provocative blend establishes Mark Epstein as one of psychology's most dazzling thinkers."
- --Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence
