Mineral (band)

From Free net encyclopedia

Mineral is an Austin, Texas emo band. After forming in 1994, they released two albums on crank! a record company, The Power Of Failing (1995) and End Serenading (1998). They broke up shortly after the release of End Serenading. Although similar to pioneers Sunny Day Real Estate, in that they both shared a love for and in fact defined the poppier conventions in the emo music style, Mineral definitely stands by itself as an important band in the development of the "second wave" of emo, more melodic and ethereal than the more hardcore-sound previously associated with emo and have been said to have influenced many bands such as biffy clyro.

Members of this band went on to form other bands after breaking up. Gabriel Wiley is a member of Pop Unknown, and worked with Scott McCarver on Imbroco for a brief period of itme. A slightly more successful project was formed by Christopher Simpson and Jeremy Gomez, The Gloria Record. Simpson currently has a solo project called Zookeeper.
