Muscimol

Image:Muscimol.png Muscimol (agarin, pantherine) is the toxic psychoactive compound present in Amanita muscaria and Amanita Pantherina. It is the decarboxylation product of ibotenic acid. It is a specific agonist of GABAA receptors. It is classified as a Zwitter Ion. Consumption of carbonated beverages with mushrooms containing muscimol will only revert it back into ibotenic acid.
