Onida is a city located in Sully County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 740. It is the county seat of Sully CountyTemplate:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 740 people, 299 households, and 200 families residing in the city. The population density was 453.5/km² (1,165.9/mi²). There were 329 housing units at an average density of 201.6/km² (518.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.51% White, 0.00% African American, 0.54% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.95% from two or more races. 0.41% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 299 households out of which 35.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% were married couples living together, 4.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.8% were non-families. 28.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.10.
In the city the population was spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 101.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.5 males.
