Patrick McLoughlin

The Rt. Hon. Patrick Allen McLoughlin (born 30 November 1957, Staffordshire) is a British politician. He is a Conservative Member of Parliament, having represented Derbyshire West since 1986. Previously he had been a miner.

He served as a government and opposition whip under John Major and later as Oppostition Deputy Chief Whip until he was appointed Opposition Chief Whip by David Cameron, the newly elected Conservative Leader on 6 December 2005. According to convention, he was elevated to the Privy Council of the United Kingdom like other Opposition Chief Whips.
