The term Phat has a number of uses:
- Phat is an adjective to describe approval in hip hop culture. Hence, someone or something that is phat could be cool, rich, entertaining, intelligent, fly or otherwise to be admired. The term derives from Black English Vernacular (Ebonics) as a deliberate misspelling of the word fat. Fake etymologies for "phat" state that the word originated as an acronym for "Pretty Hot And Tempting", "Plenty of Hips And Thighs" or "Pussy, Hips And Tits".
- Also a comic book character from Marvel Comics' X-Statix Billy Bob goes by the moniker Phat and is a parody of white rapper Eminem.
- Phat is also a series of demo parties arranged by Phantasy.
- Phat is short for "party hat" on the MMORPG RuneScape
- Phat (ph@) is also a painter and musician from Germany.
- Phat is a mantric sound. It occurs in dharani in Vajrayana Buddhism.
- Too Phat is a Malaysian hip-hop group.
- Phat is a common Vietnamese first name, which means wealth.
