The President of Chile is both the chief of state and the head of government. The President is elected by popular vote to serve for a period of four years, without immediate reelection. The shorter period allows for joint parliamentary and presidential elections.
The official seat of the President of Chile is the Palacio de La Moneda in the capital Santiago.
