Pretenders (album)
From Free net encyclopedia
Pretenders is an album by The Pretenders, released on January 19, 1980 (see 1980 in music). A mix of hard rock, punk and New Wave, Pretenders established the band's career. This album, their first, compiles previously-released material - cuts from the singles ("Stop Your Sobbing"/"The Wait" (1979), "Kid"/"Tatooed Love Boys" (1979), "Brass in Pocket"/"Swinging London"/"Nervous But Shy" (1979)) - and seven new tracks. The strongest of the new tracks, "Precious" and "Mystery Achievement," open and close the album respectively and give the album a unity and punch throughout.
Pretenders has been named one of the best albums of all time by VH1 (#52). Template:RS500
