Ray Ozzie

Image:Ray Ozzie.jpg Ray Ozzie (born November 20, 1955) is an American high technology executive who is best known for writing the first versions of Lotus Notes software after founding Iris Associates. Iris was acquired by Lotus Development which in turn was acquired by IBM. After leaving Lotus/IBM, Ozzie founded a company called Groove Networks to work on software to help people work effectively in groups. He is now one of three Chief Technical Officers at Microsoft, following its acquisition of Groove in 2005.

He received his bachelor's degree in computer science in 1979 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he worked on the PLATO system. Ozzie began his working career at Data General Corporation where he worked for Jonathan Sachs. After leaving Data General, Ozzie worked at Software Arts for one and half years before being recruited by Sachs to work for Lotus Development.
