Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor

Norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (NRIs) are compounds that elevate the extracellular level of the neurotransmitter norepinephrine in the CNS by inhibiting its reuptake into the synapse via the norepinephrine transporter. Virtually, they do not act at other monoamine transporters.

- Maprotiline (Ludiomil®)
Strattera® is available in the United States and is indicated by the FDA for the treatment of ADD and ADHD, off-label uses include the treatment of depression, and anxiety.
Reboxetine, unavailable in the United States and Canada, has been found to be effective at combating depression.
