Shiner is the brand name of beers brewed in Spoetzl Brewery, the "Little Brewery," in Shiner, Texas. The best-known is the bock, Shiner Bock. Also brewed in the Spoetzl Brewery are Shiner Light, Shiner Blonde (formerly Shiner Premium), and Shiner Hefeweizen. There are also two seasonal brews: Shiner Kölsch (formerly Summer Stock) and Shiner Dunkelweizen (formerly Winter Ale). Available in both cans as well as longneck bottles, all Shiner bottles feature easy twistoff caps.
Long a regional favorite, particularly among college students, Shiner Bock is now distributed as far west as California, as far north as Minnesota and as far east as Virginia.
When visiting Austin, Texas in 1996 for a week long film festival, director Quentin Tarantino quipped that he was "draining the town of Shiner."<ref> Hornaday, Ann. "Tarantino's film festival hits home with Austinites." Austin American-Statesman. Aug. 10, 1996. Page E-1.</ref>
