Solid State Logic is a manufacturer of analogue and digital audio consoles for music, broadcast, post production and film. Founded in 1969, SSL has since expanded to its present 15 acre (61,000 m²) science park in Oxfordshire, England. The company invents, designs and manufactures technology for the manipulation of sound.

There are more than 3024 SSL systems in service around the world. Their equipment has been used by classical musicians and popular artists such as Bryan Adams, Peter Gabriel, Whitney Houston, Blur and Sting. Some of the company's clients include BBC UK, NHK Japan, ABC USA, Fox USA, NBC USA, CBS USA, NDR Germany, Swedish Television, RAI Italy and NOB Netherlands.

SSL Also manufactured solid-state control systems for pipe organs. This division was sold off and is now known as Solid-State Organ Systems of Alexandria, VA.

SSL employs over 380 people worldwide and has regional offices in Los Angeles, Milan, New York, Paris and Tokyo, with additional support provided by an international network of distributors.

Recently, SSL filed for bankruptcy protection, and was subsequently purchased by Peter Gabriel. The company will continue to design and market new products.

Since its release in late 2004, the SSL AWS900, an integrated Analog console and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) has become a leading console for many worldwide studios.

In terms of classic consoles, the SSL 4000 G+ is still considered a favorite among mixing engineers in Rock genres while the 9000J and K series are more acclaimed for use in R&B, Classical and Pop genres. The 4000 has mixed more platinum selling albums than all other consoles combined.
