Sonic & Knuckles Collection

Sonic & Knuckles Collection is a Sonic the Hedgehog compilation game for Microsoft Windows-based PCs. The ports have seemed to be slightly more buggy than their originals, and most of the original music is emulated in MIDI format.

Some music, such as Carnival Night Zone, Ice Cap Zone and Launch Base Zone were changed with different music. This is probably because those tracks originally contained both MIDI and PCM sounds, which could not be guaranteed to be supported simultaneously by all PC soundcards at that time. Other than that, the gameplay is identical to their Genesis counterparts.

This game is virtually impossible to play in windowed mode on any system with a CPU faster than 350 MHz, because the game does not have proper speed-limiting routines in this mode. However, the timings used by the game are based on the monitor's refresh rate. Switching the game to fullscreen mode lets the game play properly, no matter what your system speed is. However, the game can be played at the correct speed at a 60Hz screen refresh rate on any modern system. Sega has also provided a patch to fix this problem without reducing the refresh rate.
