St. Robert, Missouri

St. Robert is a city located in Pulaski County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,760. It is the location of the United States Army Basic Combat Training post Fort Leonard Wood. Fort Leonard Wood is also home to the United States Army Military police school and the United States Army Chemical School.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 18.7 km² (7.2 mi²). 18.7 km² (7.2 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. FT Leonard Wood is also home to the United States Army Engineer School.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 2,760 people, 1,219 households, and 688 families residing in the city. The population density was 147.8/km² (383.0/mi²). There were 1,408 housing units at an average density of 75.4/km² (195.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 64.64% White, 20.29% African American, 0.58% Native American, 5.43% Asian, 0.40% Pacific Islander, 2.90% from other races, and 5.76% from two or more races. 6.12% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 1,219 households out of which 31.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 39.7% were married couples living together, 12.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 43.5% were non-families. 36.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 37.3% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 99.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $33,080, and the median income for a family was $37,841. Males had a median income of $29,934 versus $20,625 for females. The per capita income for the city was $17,650. 11.3% of the population and 11.3% of families were below the poverty line. 15.0% of those under the age of 18 and 5.6% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
