Stagecoach (film)

Stagecoach is a 1939 western film which tells the tale of a motley group of strangers thrown together on the stagecoach to Lordsburg, which is attacked by Apache warriors. It stars Claire Trevor and John Wayne in the role which made him a star.

The screenplay is an adaptation of 'The Stage to Lordsburg', a short story by Ernest Haycox.

The film has been deemed "culturally significant" by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.

Trivia

This was the first of many films that John Ford made in Monument Valley, Utah, many starring John Wayne.

The story Boule de Suif by Guy de Maupassant was the inspiration for the short story on which the film was based.
