Streamer

The word streamer can refer to any of the following:
- A variant on a parachute which uses a strip of material instead of a canopy. Some streamers have a pocket sewn in to catch air, making them more like oddly shaped parachutes. Streamers are used on small or light objects, such as model rockets, as substitutes for parachutes or to ensure the object falls in the proper way.
- A strip of often colorful, sometimes metallic fabric. They are commonly attached to poles or wristbands and used as an element of music choreography.
- A tape drive used for storing data.
- In terms of fishing, is one of the four main categories of fly lures. In general, it is tied on a bigger hook and is presented as though it was a small, floating fish.
- The vertical bar laid over film or video pictures to mark a certain synchronisation point. This is especially useful while recording music, sound effects, or dialogue for a movie. The bar moves from left to right for a few seconds and reaches the right screen border exactly at the sync point. Sometimes the streamer is accompanied by a puncher.
- The continuous, moving arcs that emanate from Tesla coils.
- The column of ionized air that forms at the early phase of a lightning.
- A free peer-to-peer Internet radio application called Streamerp2p, which allows streaming audio to a theoretically unlimited number of listeners.
