Suwa, Nagano

Suwa was also an old province located in Tosando of Japan for a brief period of time, which today composes the southern part of Nagano Prefecture.

Suwa is a beer brewed by the Christian population of Eritrea, and can also be found in parts of Ethiopia. It is brewed with a mixture of roasted grains and flavored with a type of buckthorn leaf called Gesho. It is brewed almost entirely by women, and is often made for celebrations.

SUWA is a common acronym for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance.

Suwa (諏訪市; -shi) is a city located in Nagano, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 53,600 and the density of 491.47 persons per km². The total area is 109.06 km².

The city was founded on August 10, 1941. It is located on the shores of Lake Suwa.

The famous is famous for its ryokans (onsen hotels) and its annual fireworks display held in August. The display takes place on the shores of the lake and many tens of thousands spectators enjoy the show from the shores. Trains are the recommended way to get to Suwa on that day.

Every six years (in the year of the Lion and the Monkey) onbashira a shintoistic ritual is held, where some men from the city ride down a hill on a big trunk.
